What factors do clients consider when choosing a brokerage firm? As a brokerage firm, you need to understand this.

Forex brokers want to attract more clients, but do you know what your clients and potential clients care about? The following are the key factors that clients prioritize, and as a forex broker, you must understand them:

Customer Concern #1: Does the broker hold a regulatory license and operate under the supervision of a legitimate regulatory authority?

There is no foreign exchange regulation in China, so all forex brokers are overseas companies. A key factor in determining whether they are legitimate and compliant is whether they hold a regulatory license and are supervised by a legitimate regulatory authority. Many investors have experienced situations where platforms have disappeared, so they are particularly cautious when choosing a forex broker. The factor they value most—and the easiest way to determine whether a forex broker is legitimate and compliant—is whether the broker holds a regulatory license. Therefore, for forex brokers, holding a legitimate and compliant regulatory license plays a crucial role in building client trust and attracting new clients.

Currently, different countries and regions have varying requirements and regulations for forex brokers. Forex brokers can apply for the appropriate regulatory licenses based on their specific circumstances. Common forex regulatory bodies include the UK’s FCA, the U.S.’s NFA, Australia’s ASIC, and Cyprus’s CySEC.

Customer Concern #2: What is the platform’s trading model, and does it support EA trading?

There are three types of forex trading platform models: market maker, STP, and ECN. For investors, market maker platforms trade against them directly, making them a less desirable choice; in contrast, with STP and ECN models, the platform does not trade against the investor but instead earns revenue through commission spreads or transaction fees, making them relatively fairer.

Some clients place particular importance on whether a platform supports EA trading, so they can program their own trading strategies or directly replicate others’ strategies to automate their buying and selling transactions.

Of course, for brokers, no single model is universally advantageous; brokers can precisely tailor their platform models based on their specific client base.

Customer Concern #3: Does the platform maintain segregated funds? What is its registered capital? Is my money safe?

Every investor is concerned about the safety of their funds, which is perfectly understandable. Under regulatory guidelines, user funds must be held separately from the platform’s operational funds—that is, through segregated accounts. Under any circumstances, including platform bankruptcy, the platform cannot access funds in these segregated accounts; only the clients themselves have control over them.Of course, in addition to checking for segregated funds, customers also examine the broker’s registered capital, overall strength, and net assets—all of which contribute to the safety and stability of their investments.

Customer Concern #4: Is the platform user-friendly? This primarily encompasses the following four aspects:

    1) What type of software is it, and does it download smoothly? Is the software developed in-house by the platform, or is it professional forex trading software such as MT4? Does it download and run smoothly?

    2) Whether the software is genuine: MT4 and MT5 are the most widely used platforms on the market. Providing customers with genuine trading software can minimize slippage, reduce platform lag and disconnections, and ensure consistency in international quotes. As a new forex broker, if you need technical support to set up your platform, you can choose the MT4 White Label Solution or MT5 White Label Solution provided by Leverate.

    3) Does the platform offer a fast deposit and withdrawal system? Deposits and withdrawals refer to investors’ deposits and withdrawals of funds. For investors, the ability to withdraw funds promptly and smoothly according to their wishes can better ensure investment returns;

    4) Reasonableness of risk control: Whether investors’ trading security can be adequately safeguarded to prevent situations such as discrepancies between the quoted price and the actual execution price.

Customer Concern #5: How efficient, professional, and courteous is customer service?

The foreign exchange market operates 24 hours a day, so clients may encounter trading issues at any time. For clients, key concerns include whether they can quickly reach customer service, receive professional assistance, and whether Chinese-language support is available. To cut labor costs, some companies reduce the number of customer service representatives or rely on non-professional staff, which significantly lowers response rates and negatively impacts the customer experience.

Customer Concern #6: What Is the Online Reputation Like?

In this age of information overload, it’s all too easy to find negative information about a brand or company online. Clients can easily find out whether a forex broker has received negative reviews or been featured in negative news stories, how well its public relations are managed, and how effectively it handles and follows up on issues. Therefore, as a broker, you must pay close attention to your user reputation and online reviews.

Once they understand what matters most to their clients, forex brokers can make targeted improvements based on their specific circumstances in order to attract more clients.
